PORTLAND, Oregon, July 14, 2010 – Information Display Company today announced it has reduced by more than 50% the energy requirements of its radar speed signs and other traffic displays. Made possible through the implementation of advanced design features, the lower energy requirements allow users to save significantly on the cost of solar powered installations of SpeedCheck™ radar speed displays.

According to Information Display Company, the biggest advantage of the new energy-efficient radar speed signs is the reduced costs associated with operating the speed displays using solar power. Lower power requirements result in the need for fewer or smaller solar panels and batteries. The savings are expected to dramatically increase SpeedCheck’s already significant advantage in solar powered signs.
“We recently spoke to a customer who told us that the solar power package required to operate a competitive display would cost well over $2,200.
